I had lots of networking and wifi issues with BT when I was with them and similar issues with Sky.

One problem was that I couldn't connect my music streamer to the internet or the networked hard disk with my music via wifi.

The other was that wifi coverage through the house was patchy at best.

I replaced the Sky modem with a better quality TP Link modem (needed a bit of internet searching to enable me to capture my username and password as sky wont give you this). Wifi coverage was better but not ideal.

I then bought a meshed network and have three boxes - one next to the modem (wifi disabled on the modem), one at the top of the stairs and one in third floor (we don't have attic space). Result - fast network coverage throughout the house and my streamer now works on wifi. Meshed network is the way to go as the boxes act as one network rather than a load of individual networks. I'm really impressed with the kit.

I can remember the days when mobile phones were too big to carry around.

I have to admit that after working in IT for over 30 years that technology is now leaving me behind. I find myself relying more on search engines and less on my knowledge of all things tech.

My wifi has gone from the equivalent of a unheated prop to a temperature controlled vitopod. Hope that clears it up :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I think that also bad weather can be an issue when it comes to Satellite signals which can affect some channels.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

I have to say that having been with Virgin since the days of Videotron, Cable & Wireless etc. YES! they are probably the best of todays bunch. I did recently have a bit of a bust up with them, over what I was paying etc. Thankfully HM Gov. is now bringing it in that companies must advise clients when contracts are ending and to offer other tariffs.

Smart phones, I haven't got one, neither do I want one. However I feel that this modern invention is perhaps going far beyond the original intention. Today, it's not only a mobile phne but also a video phone. Sadly the video facility is often being misused. Then apart from phoning a friend, a mini conference can now be held.

Ask someone the time. Seldom will they be wearing a watch. Click on the phone and up comes the time, the weather and what's for tea. Then of course the camera. This I find great. Photos taken on a smart phone are fantastic, as many members have shewn here on the forum. The pixals are fantastic. Out and about and you can use sat nav. Also you can use your phone as a bank etc.

Perhaps very soon. The ads will claim. Super Soft Andrex has been taken over by. Sony Smart Phone. Never mind if the roll has run out. Smart Phone to the rescue. (naughty)
