Dont know why, but its all happening hereabouts tonight.
We have had about 6 power cuts....
Theres a major burst water main just around the corner...The road has a large blister on it and the guys have just spent all day resufacing it!
And.. the moon has a rainbow around it..:cnfs:
    What does it all mean

Good news is after I reported the leak and had a word with my ex boss I called into a friend and had a christmas whiskey....
So, maybe things are not that bad after all:thumb:

Caps the rainbow around the moon you describe is what atmospheric scientists call a "halo" or "glory.
Halos are caused by the light of the sun or moon passing through a very thin layer of cirruform (ice-crystal) clouds in the upper atmosphere. The ice crystals refract the light of the moon, similar to the way water droplets in the lower atmosphere can refract sunlight to produce a rainbow. We need a picture next time.:thumb:

Isn't the halo supposed to tell you when the next rain is due? Something about how far the extent of the halo is from the moon?

Caj,Folklore has it that a ring around the moon signifies bad weather is coming, and in many cases this may be true rings around the moon cann't be a predictor of weather to come or the weather forecasters would use the idea. The ice crystals that cover the halo signify high altitude, thin cirrus clouds that normally precede a warm front by one or two days. Typically, a warm front will be associated with a low pressure system which is commonly referred to as a storm.
