Can any one identify the Tree

    Can any one identify the Tree, It was in a park in Ironbridge

    Welcome Richard.
    Looks like Metasequoia glyptostroboides. Common name dawn redwood.

    No tree in Britain is older than 68 years. It was known from fossil records, but only discovered in China in 1943

    P.S.
    It is possible that the 2 trees shown in your pic are different.
    As a sort of botany lesson Taxodium disticum , common name swamp cypress is often planted near a Dawn redwood.
    Do check, and if need be add new pics to this thread.
    They are very similar when in leaf.
