can anyone tell me wot this is?

    It looks like a Shrub of some type :D

    Yeah, sorry about that, ac. The leaf looks a bit like a Beech but you'll probably need Walnut for a better I.D. ;)

    Cajary,

    When it was given to me i was told it was a burning bush, being naive i thought ok, i am going to like that :rolleyes:

    Not very impressive is it [​IMG] it actually brings attention to the weeds i can't pull [​IMG] [​IMG] [​IMG]

    Cajary,

    Googled it and they look beautifully red :D , mine has red stems so i'm off down the garden to search (with magnifying glass) for signs of red leaves [​IMG]

    Will look for that bud on the Callistemon as well......

    Cajary mate,

    It has no red leaves but red stems but if you are right i have three of them to give away (seedlings), it looks like it is about 3ft tall now and shooting sideways to about 3ft+ ;)

    Paula, I have an idea what it is but please, please don't send me one. That is the most boring shrub I have ever seen. At least mine has variegated leaves. It is supposed to be beautiful in winter when the red stems stand out. I think it's a dogwood but what type (there are 50 of them) I do not know. They are known for boring leaves but come into their own in winter for their coloured stems. I'll post a picture of mine tomorrow complete with weeds (I have tennis elbow myself at the moment and you are right - weeding - yuk.)
