My cabbages have made some good growth since the snow went, even the ones nearly pciked bare by pigeons are recovering.

Thats good news Dave & John.

My mustard & fennel turned to slime, found some huge carrots that had previously been hidden by the fennel. Still digging potatoes the size of a fist. Spring onions not done so good.

That's good Davy. I managed to get into my cold frame today as it's been under a foot of snow since November. Everything looks absolutely fine - a bit to my surprize.

I will hopefully be getting things tidy and in order in the greenhouses as from tomorrow ..Christmas over and feeling a lot better after a bad cold ..
I will make a start on down potting my fuchsias first then this gives me some spare space.
Glad your cold frame ok Alice what have you in there ?

I've quite a lot in the cold frame Dave. I don't have a greenhouse (don't want one) but I do have a large, heated conservatory. So between that, the cold frame and a great south facing wall I manage pretty well.
In the cold frame I've quite a few Fuchsias, loads of pots of cuttings from plants I wanted to increase, or just save incase I lost the originals. They're well rooted and doing well.
A pot of Ranunculus which came up as soon as they were planted and they're looking fine.
Several pots of parsley to keep me going through the winter.
Some pea shoots and some winter lettuce.
And a few things I've forgotten about.
I've a big pot of ginger in the conservatory which has died down now and just waiting to be harvested - but I'm waiting for better weather to take it out and empty the pot.
I've got itchy planting fingers now so as soon as I can get out to rescue some compost I'm going to plant some Spring Onions. They can stay in the conservatory til they get started then go to the cold frame.
Hope you have a great growing season Dave.
