She's guaranteed extra publicity by claiming to have a bomb.
Chances are she'll give a statement just before the 10-o-clock news - probably about her losing her benefits. (tin hat at the ready)

Yep, just up the road, but not really our beach:) We're in Redcar.

I think it all kicked off fairly suddenly about 5:30 I was picking up wife and lad from granny's when we heard the police helicopter coming along. It was rather unusual because it was coming away from saltburn at the usual ambling pace, when suddenly it cranked up the revs and did an about turn and set off fell whack towards saltburn.

Its not going to be a woman with a bomb. It'll just be one of the local smack'eds off her face. Saltburn sea front is hardly an urban hub, a hive of activity.

They should just ignore it, and let them get on with what they want, hopefully drown or fall off the bridge etc they occupy, or realise no one gives a toss and give up

We regulary have the Tay Road Bridge closed due to a threatend jumper
Thousands of people incovenienced, many lost hours of ones life and work, only to get a sicko to be given a council house and benefits for fifty years
Let them jump it would save the country a fortune in benefits, and lost working hours, not to mention the lost leisure time of some poor person out for a nice day out

I went to assist one once, as in give a helping push, but she held on and I became a bloody hero :-(

I don't think anyone was threatening to kill themselves on this occasion. The pier is low enough to jump safely from, and even if you did, the currents at that point would just bring you back in. Literally 50 yards from that point is the start of a public footpath that leads up the cliff. Walking for maybe a mile takes you to the top of the cliff, and the edge of a 300ft+ sheer vertical drop onto rocks below. Someone threatening suicide in that area of town would surely go up the cliff rather than to the safe pedestrianised area outside the chippy and near the pier. Instead what we seem to have had is a woman who may be slightly mad. She's been detained under the mental health act, which could mean anything from that she's threatening suicide because she's depressed and in despair, to that she believes she's a three legged cyborg from mars here on a mission to grow potatoes on the beach.

I did reply earlier, but it has gone Perhaps for the best

The answer was NO I have not, but if I had then I know who was to blame

MYSELF no one else, and I would have to live with it

Due to my Attitude/Actions, Not being observant enough, or care enough to notice their well being

Jack you would NEVER know, no matter how observant you were or how much you cared, secrecy is part of the illness which is why it takes people by surprise!!

Life's not as simple as that sometimes. It's in the top ten causes of deaths in the UK and families on a daily basis learn in the worst possible way that although they blame themselves for not spotting any signs, there were no signs in the first place.

A council street cleaner was caught up in the police cordon. When interviewed by the TV folk, he said he'd seen her around quite often and that "he knew her by her burka"!!

So Saltburn is now worthy of an al-Qaeda terrorist attack?
