:) So are we going to have another cold winter?
Are there any clues out there?
They say that if the Holly tree's are full of berries it will be a cold winter......well my Holly tree is full of berries.........but it has been every year for as long as I can remember,so it was right last year......:thumb:

Actually this came up in an edition of the BBC's "Countryfile" about this time last year. Adam Henson's father a retired farmer, pointed out that there were an unusual quantity of berries on trees and this was according to country beliefs indicative that a hard winter was expected.
The presenter asked if he actually believed it, he said; "Yes"

    So there you go.

Maybe Global Warming should be added to those other two topics that are never mentioned in polite conversation (or at least discussed on forums online, but always seem to be!), Politics and Religion?

I Had an old neighbour who informed me" if the Rowan tree's are full in berries, we will have a cold winter". she could be correct, as our trees last year where heavy with Rowan berries and we did have a severe winter . if we have the same winter as last year ,she could be on the money.:)
as our tree's this year are laden with berries :( music .

I don't think the trees can forecasst the weather.
I think the number of berries only tells us how good the weather was when the tree was in blossom.

I think that nature knows what the weather is going to do, if the trees are heavy with berries then that is good enough for me!!! :thumb:

Our council is stocking up on salt supplies, so my guess is it's going to be mild.

The Met Office have forecast a cold winter. Sods law therefore means it'll be mild and wet!
