(I know the spelling ain't right .) But according to the Met office the first storm of the season is due to hit tonight . Winds up to 75mph and heavy rain. Considering the bloomin' awful weather we have had the past few days , are we going to notice any difference Storm Aileen set to bring strong winds
Not HappyBee Keep safe everyone, .........do hope all the creatures are tucked up safely tonight too! bless um- please Storm Aileen
My Garden Weather Station is reporting a pressure drop from 998hpa this morning to 978hpa which is well below the Storm Threshold on it. It looks like being a windy and wet night.
It is a bit blowy here (winds around 20 mph), but not that bad - allegedly we are due a couple of hours of 40+ mph in the early hours, but that is about it. Is it more the west that is affected?
The way I'm seeing it at the moment is that most of the heavy rain will be in Northern counties and Scotland. Looks at the moment like northern England might get the worst gusts of wind but it is moving fast. Down here in Kent we have a yellow warning for strong winds in the early hours and tomorrow.
It's pretty calm here in West Cheshire with winds of around 2.5mph at the moment and not much rain........which is surprising because we were supposed to be in the middle of it all. Looking at the radar the centre of the storm seems to be North of Blackpool.
In the last hour the wind has picked up to gale force at 50mph+ and very noisy. A few mile miles down on the coast it may reach 70mph. I presume @Zigs is battened down!!
To be honest when you see "the storm" on the weather map it looks fairly uninteresting and by midday tomorrow the center is somewhere over Denmark. Hoping it just gives us a glancing blow, if it was mid winter it wouldn't be worth a mention, but with all the trees still full of leaf it could be a problem.
It's not really been a Storm as such here in West Cheshire despite the drop in pressure to 972hpa at the moment. The average wind speeds have rarely got above 3mph and only gusted up to around 8mph, with only 3.4mm of rain since 5pm. It looks like the centre of the Storm is right over the Lake District again.
Stay safe everyone! I hope Aileen doesn't create much damage. It's missing us up here, wind speed for today and tomorrow is around 4mph.
