Completely New to Gardening

Good morning! It looks like it's going to be another beautiful day where I am. I just wanted to say hello and let you know that I am very new to gardening (and really quite clueless).

I am lucky that I have quite a big garden that has quite a lot of beautiful, long-established plants. There are, however, patches of complete mayhem where I really don't know where to start.

I will probably need a little help with plant identification.

Projects for this year are building a shady rockery and establishing a vegetable patch from a disused square of ground at the bottom of the garden.

If anyone had any advice on either of these things, it would be much appreciated.
