    @Jiffy

    Looking at that models User manual reveals nothing of the hardware, but if you see the Maintenance manual at this link your can see that being a later design things are not that accessible.
    It states that the Ram is none removable, not in the sense of an easy ram accesss port as on older models, however looking into it further it does show it uses plug in modules, but not sure how readily available they are ( just a HP part ?) plus they are well buried inside, more a pc repairers shop job.

    Same with the HDD, no direct hatch to it, again quiet a disassembly job, though worth double checking yours is a HDD ( can you hear it clicking if you listen carefully) as some models sold with a SSD.

    Its all down to how much you want to spend on it vs performace increase .... ?

    A 1tb SSD costs about £100 plus fitting, plus transfering your system and data across, which is doable yourself, though a PC shop would also do it for you, depends on how private your data is ?

    EDIT; CPU wise, afraid the CPU Performance Charts rate it at a modest 2203, so its never going to be the strongest contender for such video work, and impossible for us to say how much of a practical improvement the above mods would make....

      You make a good point, but unless you are a REALLY heavy user, you wil never get anywhere near the lifetime limit of an SSD. For any normal user this would require shoveling hundreds of gigabytes worth of Data per day over the course of years. Otherwise the SSD drive wil probably outlive both the notebook AND the user (I run mine now for almost 10 years).

      Fact is, they are probably more resilient since they have no moving parts. That makes them absolutely 100% quiet and also shock resistant, whereas HDDs tend to get damaged when they are moved while running. Especially when you move them vertically (setting them down or picking them up)

      Just to add to your thoughts, you say you do photo editing as well, then have a look at this thread and @Aldo s interesting info on monitor and colours, though its more relevant to using a desktop with separate monitor, just depends on how involved you want to become in such editing ..
