    Hi,

Since i have occasional water logging problems i wondered if i could use containers for some editble growing other than herbs. What veg could i grow in containers and how deep do they need to be if they were root veg?

Then if i decided to plant some in the less waterlogged part, what would you suggest? I've clay soil.

    hi newbiegreen

im on clay too and also get waterlogged ALOT !!

so i grow all my stuff in polypots not expensive and go up to about 50 litres (ebay)

    last year i grew

    toms
    cucumbers
    spring onions
    radish
    chillis
    peppers
    spuds (earlys)
    peas
    runner beans
    carrots (baby veg)
    turnips (baby veg)
    sprouts

after serching alot on the net and getting great advice from GC baby veg is really the best things to grow in pots as they grow quick and don't need much space

suttons do speedy seeds which might be worth a look i did grow them last yr and i must say with it been my first time i was really happy with what i got

this yr i am growing the same but also

    melons
    lettace
    baby savoy cabbage
    baby collys

and as for planting in clay i have read in my books carrots and spuds as they break up the clay

    hope that helps alittle

Thanks, i read Lidl were selling seeds for only 29p a pack so nipped in on the way home from work. And they were too. Just got a pack of basil that i've grown before from seed, dead easy. And some carrot seeds. So lets see how that goes.

It reminded me about the basil seeds how they change colour to a blue when you first water them :D
