    Hiya

Another (probably dumb) question - apologies in advance

I grow lots of plants in containers. From what I've read, you should put them into a container slightly larger than the one they are currently in and then re-pot each year, rather than putting them into the largest container you can find.

I'm sure there is a reason for this, can anyone explain? Is it something to do with the roots growing to fill the available space?

    Thanks again :love30:

It is indeed down to the roots growing at the expence of the topgrowth. Don`t ask me the science of it, I just can`t remember.:thumb:

Merleworld, you are not asking dumb questions. If you don`t know something, then the only question you can ask is intelligent.

        hello Merleworld
I asked the same question on here a while back . Just think of re-potting up a plant as a car going up through the gears . You move a plant up as it grows through 3 or 4 pot sizes. As Dai said its to control the root to top growth.
