In me garden ! Spent an hour this morning cleaning out the feeders and the bird baths of which there are many. Filled em all up with high protein stuff and the various things they like. I don't have a clue how much stuff we put out every day but its a lot ! I buy in big bulk sacks now to keep the cost down as Er indoors would go nuts (Gerrit) if Horace the robin his family plus another thousand or so dont get a full feed every day and nice clean fresh water.
Bet Im not alone doing this ?

    Charlie.

Oh definitely! I don't give them as much as I used to. It was costing me a fortune because before you know it they are flying in with their friends and their friends friends until every bird in a 5 mile radius was in my garden! Luckily as I can see from my upstairs window, plenty of my neighbours feed them too so I know they don't go without. It's very nice to see them flying in though especially in winter when there's not that much to look at in the garden. :)

This and last year have been good for peanuts as the grey things with bushy tail are not around , but the birds still eat a lot, 2014 they eat 7x25kg peanuts, 5x25kg of porridge oats 2x80 l dust bins of wheat 2x20kg niger seed and 2x25kg millet :)

Next weekend is the RSPB annual "Bird Watch" so you may wish to take the opportunity to take part (?).

I've had to buy bird feed this year because there is beggar all in the garden to sustain them (it'll be a different story next year when I've done some planting). I love seeing them flitting in and out and I know when the feeders need topping up because "Bob" (the robin) sits on my arbor to "remind" me ... brave little chap seeing as it's on Ozzy territory :heehee:

Our birds get through 20kgs of seed every six weeks. Then there's the peanuts and fat cakes! I'll be doing the bird watch. :blue thumb:

M.. I realise the importance of feeding our feathered friends. I actually find it pleasurable doing it and the birds coming into the garden is some thing we find fantastic ! I love wildlife of any description ! Travelling through Loxley near Stratford Upon Avon this morning a young deer walked across the road in front of me. Made my day !

                How wonderful!
I used to get a whole host of birds (and bats :wub2: ) in my previous garden. I've only been here 4 months and I'm still seeing new varieties of birds turning up. Like you, I love it :) One of my greater joys was when a pheasant appeared on a neighbours roof. Magic

Same here we feed the birds. We get the usual mob and sometimes a Woodpecker or two. We often have our mid morning break watching them. We worth the cost of the feed.
