    Well,
I've been crocheting things for the Yarn Bombing in the Almonry garden this coming Easter and would love to see what crafts or projects you are involved in.

      Love the chicks Jenny! :dbgrtmb:

I haven't had a chance to pick up on my hobbies since moving and even my camera's are taking a back seat at the moment. I would like to start a tapestry in the not too distant future as I haven't worked one for a number of years.

Oh, I hope you start one soon! I find that's at the end of a long day's gardening, it's so relaxing to pick up a canvas and do a few stitches, even if you just do one length of yarn!
If you're like me, what often puts me off starting is the initial setting up of the canvas on the frame (tapestry or needlepoint needs to be worked on taut canvas, in my experience). Maybe there's small niche market for a service for a craft shop to offer. I would certainly take my custom to a place where they help me over the first hurdle!

I shall look out for that in the Almonry, Jenny - who is organising it? Really like the knitted chicks.

I'd like to do cross stitch but I don't think my eye sight will cope with that now. I also intend to sell my bobbin lace equipment that has been sitting around for years, waiting for me to take it up again but there's no chance of that now, the work is too fine. So tapestry it will be. :)

I don't mind setting up the frame and I agree tapestry does need to be taut. Needlepoint is something that has never tempted me for some reason or other.

As well as decoupage cards and costume jewellery, my wife is also a very good knitter.
She was able to knit herself sweaters without a pattern, in various stitches and styles.
She used to knit matching jumpers for our two boys when they were very young. They liked them the brighter the better, again she didn't use a pattern.

              11_28_21 - Copy.jpg

She was also a dab hand with a sewing machine and made many of her own dresses when we were in our twenties. I'm filming the two boys in the boat, our baby daughter is in the pram.

              11_28_30.jpg

For many years now she's not bothered with knitting (or dressmaking). Sirdar yarn which she prefers, is hard to find, she has to "feel" it before deciding, so no use trying to buy it on-line, also it's very expensive. It's cheaper to buy something.

However, if a member of the family has a new baby. She'll knit something up like this. Again no pattern, just "freehand."

the colours in the yarn and change as you work so 2 sides joined together are not identical. Some lovely variegated yarns around now.

I have finally finished my “Big” project - a denim patchwork duvet cover for our bed....
