thanks kathy and inter, uree has been here before, her daughter has just arrived been in the uk 1 week, she loved it in newcastle i wanted to show her our main city, as she has just started school 1 day a week to learn more english, she has been allowed a 6 month visit on her visa, but they are hoping to arrange a longer stay for her education.
we were really lucky with the weather yesterday it was quite warm, then we got metro back to whitley bay and it was freezing down on the coast

thanks pal, at a guess we have 5 or 6 bridges in newcastle they are not shown on my pics as we just went to the riverside in newcastle, tyne bridge, swing bridge thats the red and white one and a bridge for trains, the new sleek one is the millenium bridge just for walkers and i guess pedal bikes could go across that, the other bridges are further down the river.

    Great pics as usual Rosa

Pal, you must have seen on the news about that last bridge Linda talked about, Millenium eye. It actually blinks, well not really it just raises up for river traffic i think. it is a lovely bridge. I took my son to see it not long after it had opened. Much better than the London Millenium bridge, doesn't wobble [IMG]

I used to travel up here alot on the train, & would always be at the door (for open windows when the trains had them) to catch the first glimpse of the Tyne Bridge.

    cheers

thank you borrowers, pleased you like them, yes the millenium bridge raises up for river traffic as you said, i have never seen it open up would be interesting to see how it does.
Its a bit too modern for my liking i much prefer the Tyne bridge, i want to go get pics one evening, one of these nights i will venture up there.maybe we could meet up seeing that your from newcastle.

This is how the bridge looks when it is opened - like an eyelid opening which is how it got its name

You should try & get some night shots, better to do it now while it still gets dark quite early otherwise you would have to be there late at night.

I would love to meet up but i can't just now - see my pm to you a while ago for reasons why. Maybe one day eh. Anyway you are far to pretty to want to be seen with me! You remind me of my brothers girlfriend actually.

Going now to catch up on the photo comp, there's some really good pics on there & as usual, you're up there with them.

did you get hubby instructed in the use of the camera so he can take some pics?

    cheers

hi Borrowers, its too cold to venture up there at night but you have a point once it gets to summer its going to be close to 10 pm to wait for dark.
going to show hubby how to use the digi in the morning before he leaves, just charging the battery up on the sony all ready to go.lets hope he takes some good pics out there in africa.

    rosa,
I didn't realise Ted was still home, pity you didn't go & get the photo's while he was here, you would have felt safer. I would imagine it gets really busy down on the waterfront at night.

    cheers
