Don't come to close....

For a few years after I gave up smoking, I caught every cold and sniffle that was going, but thereafter the frequency of them decreased remarkably, and my 'norm' now is to rarely catch a cold.

Sadly, when I do catch one, I tend to get really bad ones, and although I haven't had a cold in over a year, I started with one on Friday night. Working outdoors at the rugby yesterday seems to have been the icing on the cake, and I have had come home from work early today as I can barely see straight.

I absolutely detest taking time off sick, as it makes me feel as though I have given up in some way, but I simply couldn't carry on today. Hopefully a day or two lounging about will get me back on track.

 

As much as anything, I don't want to give it to anyone else - one of my team is expecting a phonecall any minute to tell him that his missus has gone into labour, and another has only just got out of hospital last week due to some sort of chest problem that saw his blood oxygen levels plummet.

 

I will have the house all to myself to recuperate in over the next couple of days, and Mrs C is at work and Little C is at school. I've got the dog for company, and of course GC

To be honest, apart from an extra hour in bed, I'd have been as well going into work today - texts, phone calls, emails all still flying about and I have only just finished investigating a complaint from a chap who is a double-barrelled 'Sir' complaining about disruption to a bus service.

Sadly, when someone crashes their car and all but closes a major arterial route during the rush hour, it tends to delay bus services - and sadly, the people bending their motors don't know that a 'Sir' will be put out as a result

It really grinds my gears when we get complaints that begin with the assumption that the delays are being caused by our drivers drinking tea or eating breakfast - - there is a hell of a lot of work goes into running a bus service, and we most certainly do not go out of our way to cause delays!

Anyway, feeling a wee tad better this evening - headache isn't as bad, and its moving onto my chest which I can deal with a bit better than the throbbing in my head. Back to the office tomorrow.
