 This is 'Chicago Peace' from Morrisons. I expected a bicolour rose like peace but darker pink tinge, as the picture on the packet showed. I've googled for images of this rose and it does seem to be very variable. I don't think I'm very keen on this version! [IMG]
Definitely not bicolour and I've seen much nicer salmon roses.

I just planted chicago peace - £2.25 from nursery, I am awaiting flower, but hope it does not look like that Liz as it is planted with yellow and orange roses.

You'd be surprised how colours can go together. I don't like chicago peace - preferring the more delicate yellow and pink of peace.

I love 'Peace' as well, mine was a bargain from Morrisons. I had 'Just Joey' from them and it's lovely, I thought 'Chicago peace ' which I've only seen in pictures would be worth a try at £1.49. Waco, I'd be interested to see yours when it comes out.

I planted both "peace" and chicago peace - just hope I can remember which is which!

I have also had just Joey at another house (good griefe was there life in a garden before Walnut Cottage!)

    Lovely picture Fran

going back to "Peace" my fathere had a lovely book about the story of its creation, don't know what happened to it, but it would be nice to read it again.

Fran I love that Rose 'peace', great photo. Liz I have been disappointed by some roses I've bought and I think I would be disappointed with that one. :( Not quite the bi-colour you would have expected, although bi's do seem to vary in strain. I have just joey too its a great rose [IMG]

This is 'Chicago Peace' which looks to have a more balanced bi-colour strian.

I have to say that this is one of the reasons I now buy my roses when they are in flower. Just bought "Pauls lemon pillar" for gap in trallcaing.

My new rose bed will be a surprise as bought in Feb.

I have been wondering for a while what this one was called. Is it the 'peace rose?' I think it looks very similar to Frans. Not being an expert what do you look for in identifying roses? Is it just the shape and colour?

There also seems to be alot of greenfly on it. Is it safe to spray the roses after they have flowered to eradicate the pests?

    Thanks

It looks very similar, if it goes quite a lot pinker as it matures, then yes thats prolly peace.

When trying to identify roses - bearing in mind the huge numbers, you look at leaf colour (old and new) bud - single multiple and breaking, and flower - colour, shape and petals (new and old) - and then check it out, either with your own, or others in books or on the web.

Best you can hope for, is some-one else who grows it confirming, or a close likeness.

Re- greenfly, either squish them off with finger and thumb or wash them off with a soapy water spray. Me unless very dense I leave them to the ladybirds and blue tits.
