    Can anyone tell me what this is please.
    Ive just been to Ireland and this is in my friends back garden, infact there are several.

    Hi Mef It might be a Gunnera Manicata or maybe an Ornamental Rhubarb Just a couple of options I'm sure someone here will supply the answer. [​IMG]

    You weren't far off mef750 - its a close relative. I think its Gunnera - probably manicata, which seems to be the commonest one. But I am no expert. They like being beside a stream and I see them at Harlow Carr just near me. They usually need a little bit of protection over winter.

    Looks like a Gunnera Manicata flower spike to me too, exactly like mine.

    Thank you all, My friend lives on top of the hills in Donagaul, wide open and a beautiful view of the sea. She wasnt sure if it was wild, as her back garden if full of bracken as well.
