I've got a floppy (disc drive :nonofinger:), Cd's and external hard drive and wouldn't dream of using 'the cloud'.

I use Google Drive instead of dropbox . I don't know if any of them have advantages over the other. Its very clever how it syncs my desktop - tablet and office pc . And it all works from just a desktop folder !

People lost perceived control as soon as the internet was invented and probably before if you consider local networks.
It's simple - use paper or use a pc. I can't get all het up over these stories of invasion of privacy and distrust of 3rd parties. I have nothing to hide and if they want to see pics of my garden then that's fine with me. I'm sure they have better things to be doing. If They subsequently turn up with ground penetrating radar in the patio area though...

That's nothing like my Dropbox. Does that mean that it only works if you pay? If that's the case then I'm better off with Flickr which gives me 1Tb for free.

Recent installations haven't automatically installed the Public Folder, but it could be added using this link https://www.dropbox.com/login?cont=https://www.dropbox.com/enable_public_folder. It used to be free (when I did it), but that may no longer be the case

      https://www.dropbox.com/help/16/en
@longk the links you've used above don't appear to be valid Dropbox links which should be like this:
      Code:
      https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/149151768/bigtombev230ct.jpg
      but yours are like this

      Code:
      https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/DSC_2158.jpg?_subject_uid=297759224&w=AAAWe3QcuJinxvLso_1s9ylYnO8cPidcNDqXn3n9RP-Eyg

Are you selecting the image then 'Share' to get the image link for sharing copied into your clipboard?

No matter what I do, even opening the image in a new tab, all I ever get is that link.
      This is my homepage......................
      Capture.jpg

It would appear from your link that I need to upgrade to Pro.

A bit convoluted but create a sub folder of your dropbox folder, add an image, view on dropbox.com, right click on image and select 'share link', copy the url from your browser (not sharing links produced by dropbox) and change the front part to
      Code:
      dl.dropboxusercontent.com
      so
      Code:
      https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ouw3od5d71hbg8/biggesttom03.10.2013.jpg
      gets changed to
      Code:
      dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/8ouw3od5d71hbg8/biggesttom03.10.2013.jpg
which when put between img tags displays thus ....

      dropboxB.png
      dropboxC.jpg
      dropboxA.png

I'd try right clicking > share link > etc. one of those images in your screenshot

Obviously not then. Works when composing, but not when posted.
