We have a lot of these in the garden and people are always asking us to dig one up for them. They're self-seeded but do look attractive.

As they're so popular I think we could sell some for our charity on Open Day, but we need to know more about it.

I'm sure it's a common wild plant but can't think what it is

    Thanks in advance :)

Thanks, @Silver surfer That's definitely it. I knew you'd know :blue thumb: :wub2:

We thought it was a papyrus but couldn't find which one (even knowing the name, there's not much info out there).

We'll collect seed, sow some and see how it goes. We can't find info on any special conditions it might need for germination but seems to grow OK in the garden.

Most of the info I've found says it prefers damp conditions (even will grow in ponds etc.) but it seems to do better in the driest part of our garden

Hmm! I find grasses, rushes, sedges etc a nightmare to id.
There is another ....Cyperus "Chira" which according to Miranda from Wild Chicken looks similar to Cyperus glaber but prefers dry conditions.
However, there isn't very much that I could find on www about it and sadly my botanical knowledge is completely lacking to say how you tell one from the other.

If you stick with naming your plant Cyperus I think you will be OK!
