I have a four year old Brown Turkey fig tree growing in a 15" pot.
This year it produced 31 figs in early summer. They grew to about half of full size and had started to colour. They have all now dropped off the tree over the last two weeks. I know that figs are supposed to stay on the tree until the following year where they rippen. What has caused them to drop off. I live in Gloucestershire and the summer has not been particularly hot.

They produce figs in early summer and they ripen in August/sept to a nice brown colour then you pick and eat them, maybe something is wrong, my crop was fine. They only fruit twice a year if you grow them under cover, and they need alot of sun to make them taste sweeter. Mine have got new tiny ones forming which you leave on, but if they are bigger than a pea you take them off cos they will not ripen next year.

Grahamgl, it sounds to me like the figs you're referring to are the ones that TO says dont ripen and fall off still small.
The only ones that will grow on the next year and ripen are the very small ones in the leaf joints, at leaf fall. At that stage they appear to be nothing more than a small bud, any bigger ones will do what you describe the following summer. Although I must admit yours seem to have been on there a long time to have just dropped off recently.
Having said that it could also be a number of other things, including being too dry, pot bound, needs feeding or total lack of sunshine. [IMG]
