    Cheers Ali,

Ached all over after the first day, OK now. Didn't think to ask about pay, just needed the work, found out i'm getting £100 a day when i'm in the van or £140 if I get sent on my own, like today, got sent to Weston Super Mare to do some carpentry & painting.

3 days ago, the ladies house looked like a car had crashed into her front room (cause it had) Today it looks as good as new.

Wish someone had told me Weston Super Mare is nearly the size of Bristol. I need a satnav.

I've always just thought of the place as a destination for holiday makers from Birmingham, never really fancied going there.

I thought the days were meant to grow short as we reach september.

Mine hasn't, left home at 7am, finished the Weston job, was told to find the next job in Midsomer Norton, after several phone calls, found the job was actually in Radstock & I'd been looking for the right road in the wrong town.

Time we'd put the jigsaw puzzle of a wall back together I was pointing up by car head lights. Got home at 9pm.

    Bit tired

Good job it wasn't Midsomer Norton. They have a lot of murders and ham actors there.

That thought did go thru my head, there was nearly a murder when a van driver pulled up & asked directions. My mate (who was holding a brick axe) said it was a good job he hadn't pulled up & said "you're not building that right"

On the bright side, i'd never driven from weston to inspector Barnaby country before, that part of the Mendips is stunning. Small almost alpine villages with narrow winding roads & girt lakes & ponds.
