Just new here, so don't feel as eligible to comment, but you did ask for people's thoughts. I think this is a great place, with or without smilies, but as some of the wits are very quick I like having a frame of reference provided by the smilies. However, the selection available is good. Personally I think I would prefer your suggestion of Standard Smilies and Large Smilies to the 5 current tabs, but that could be because I struggle with making decisions!

Very grateful for the time and effort Admin go to for this Forum, and love the creative ways people on here use smilies!

Thanks @Irmemac - for the record, you are as eligible and welcome to comment as everyone else, as you are part of the GC family! The longer you are with us, the more you will find that GC is about more than just gardening talk - we love to chatter away here, and many of us have forged strong and lasting friendships over the years.

Just deleted my photobucket account, whilst I do appreciate the free service I have had for years from them, I do think 400 dollars a year is too much to allow me to 3rd party link at places like here. Every photo I have ever posted here at gc over the years is stopped from showing due to photobucket.

I had over 1000 photos posted on photobucket, most will have been posted here too

I have downloaded my albums from there, and deleted my account, I wont be held to ransom, and it is a shame that forums and chat boards are also in that ransom, many good and decent conversations are now destroyed, many good ideas or examples lost too.

I would have paid a reasonable price to continue with Photobucket...but 400 dollars? Jog on..

          Steve...:)

Ha ha, not a problem with me My Dad did that all my life! I'm still not entirely sure whether a Victorian school mistress hung herself from the upstairs banister of our childhood home or not!

I went to school with a girl who's dad did that - from one of those landings that run the full width of the hall, with the stairs at one side - he launched himself from the top, but had made the rope too long and ended up breaking both his legs.

Yes, I have fully deleted the account. After having made a full backup first, just for convenience sake to have all the photo's I uploaded in one place on my computer (I have my original files anyway). My intention is to sort out a new reliable, non criminal, ransom holding photobucket alternative and upload the images there, and over time I will "repair" conversations here where I have posted photo's as part of my posts. People view such conversations and it helps them, I'm determined to not let Photobucket "break" GC in that "low blow" manner.

I'll add a sentence to my signature here along the lines of "Are my photo's missing? PM me a link to the post and I will repair it as soon as I can, and pm you back."

Its easy to backup your photo's from Photobucket, click on one of your albums, then look to the right for actions, click the download album button and after confirming your not a robot and following the prompts, they zip that folder up and allow you to download it. Caution: Gifs and videos most be downloaded singularly.

                      Steve...:)

Something odd is happening with this thread, I'm getting the ratings icons stacking verically at the bottom of every post, it's not happening anywhere else on GC. Happening on Android/Chrome and Win/IE. Other bits of posts are also all over the place.
