My two daughters have gone from Birmingham to Manchester today.
They planned to go early this morning and spend the day at the Traford centre shopping then go to the Spice girl concert tonight.
Stay over and come back tomorrow.
There plans didn't go to plan as they got lost on the way there.
They ended up heading for Blackpool.
They had maps and a sat nav. :D
My husband can't believe they got so lost using a sat nav.
    Girls !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sat nav! Don' talk to me about sat nav! I was going to a place north of Newcastle. The post code was NE23. But as I drove north on the A19, it kept directing me to the centre of Newcastle. But I drove on and later, when I got to my destination and checked, it wouldn't take a 4 character post code so it was correctly taking me to NE2 - the centre of Newcastle.

Other times, I was on a journey I knew but set it up to see. Four times it tried to take me down country lanes in the opposite direction I wanted to go!

On the way home it did it again so I thought I'd follow and see where it went. It went down increasingly tiny lanes until it ended up in a muddy track fit only for tractors that lead into a farm yard!

Also, on a round about on a Y junction, it told me to 'take the third exit' which would have meant I ended up doing back down the road I came on!!

I spoke to the manfacturers and was told it was not my unit but errors in their GPS programming!

    Grrrrhhhh!!

Oh Lyn, I had to laugh.
I get lost nearly every time i go somewhere in my car and it doesn't have to be very far away! So I feel for them, I only hope they're like me & laugh about it.
My husbands sense of direction is worse than mine, so when we go anywhere it's like.. the tension rises.....then we laugh. We always set off really early though!
I can get lost in buildings, even did at my 'big' school when i was first there!
As long as they get back safe that's all that matters.
    Cheers

    They are fine.

    Thats all they do, laugh.
    They never take anything seriously.
They are like a pair of school girls instead of grown up women of 26 & 30 :D
I can't do anything with them.

What a day at the Trafford centre shopping with my girls.

    Birmingham is bad enough.
I can't escape home from Manchester when I've had enough. :D

I can jump on the bus or get a Taxi from Birmingham.

I think there are still a few bugs in Sat Nav. My sister lives in the countryside in Devon - thats the place where many country lanes are single track. She has many stories about lorries from Eastern Europe getting directed down these lanes that just get narrower and narrower. One lorry got stuck on a very narrow bridge and was there for three days. The lanes were so narrow they couldn't get a heavy crane in to lift it out.

One of the local lanes a couple of miles away has also been in the papers with vehicles getting diverted with satnav and stuck.

The best was a coach, the woman driver was told as she entered the lane that she wouldndt make it but was adament and caried on. The coach was scratched to shreds by the 9' high hedges and eventually got stuck fast on a very substantial rock that juts into the lane.

The hedges on this lane brush the mirrors on my transit so how the hell anyone in a loory can cocevive its ok is incredible!

There was a very nasty lane I drove down many years ago in Monmouthshire. We were taken down it on a car treasure hunt/rally. There were hedges either side way above the car roof, and it was so narrow that the car was scratched on both sides at the same time. But the scariest part was that if you broke down you couldn't get out of the car. The hedges were so close you couldn't open the door or even climb out of the window.
