I like things like that. The unavoidable truth is that as long as there is aerosol spray paints, and youths, there will be graffiti. If its artistic and on something that would be an eyesore, then its got to be infinitely better than randomly ruining the local park for example.

When I was a kid, whenever we went on the train from Redcar to Middlesbrough, we'd pass through the works, including a bit that had not been in use for some time. I used to love looking at the excellent pictures as we passed. I don't like to things like 'Dave woz ere' though, or 'the grangetown bova boys' sprayed all over (yes, there was once a group that called themselves something like that).

I've seen projects in 'problematic' neighbourhoods where a wall has been given over to the graffiti artists to do as they please. I have no stats to back this up but my observation is that vandalism reduced in such areas, as the kids had something they could consider their own.

I'm a big fan of graffiti art. I think if someone has the talent why not let them show or off. More and more councils are giving up designated areas for graffiti. As Clueless said 'Dave woz ere' isn't art though. I would much rather drive past an old building that has been left to fall to pieces and see some good graffiti piece on the side rather than just the broken windows and depressing sight of it.

Could have done with a 'paint ship' detail first to scrub off the rust.

Love the colours and the diver!

I'm not a massive fan of graffiti, but that is impressive - at least they are having a positive effect on the ship! Reading the article and comments, it seems that the local council keep standing in the way of any plans to bring the ship back into some sort of use, yet are happy to see it standing there as a rotting eyesore.

I don't get the logic behind this attitude - I've seen similar applied to buildings over the years, and on countless occasions it has ended with the building getting pulled down (or falling down all by itself) - how is that supposed to be conservation?
