    Oh what a day
Julie and I hardly ever go far, but yesterday, decided on a visit to Kirkcaldy, nearest REAL town
Jumped in the car and chug chugh dead as a door nail, so we never got anywhere

    Plan B sort the car
I knew it was due a battery, and the severe cold finished it off
No problem get a new battery, drop it in and hey ho
No chance, the battery is encased in a new plastic box, with NO user access, well there is but you need special tools :-(

Unable to jump start as I am pointed nose down a hill of a drive,
Next borrowed a charger, and had to run a cable from the shed to the car to the charger, left on overnight
Contacted Dealer we have to order one sir, For Saturday, £120 can you fit it
(as I can not access the plastic box) Not on Saturday sir, Monday and fitted is £135 Err Ok I will get back to you
Halfrauds, £130 fitted free Saturday Ok I will get back to you

D&A Auto Factors £95 Fit it your self (only I can not get access to the thing)

See if my usual service garage can do anything (STAR PERFORMANCE tuner)
Phoned no answer twelve times ? number out of phone book
Go to my car with the service sticker, the phone book has one incorrect digit
Hi Jim I need a battery FITTED can you help
No problem bring it in tomorrow (Friday 10:00) fitted £60 OEM full spec battery
I always use this garage for service and chipping for tuning)

Took it in, fitted in fifteen minutes only problem radio/cd lost its code
It does not have one, it did this time though :-(
He contacted SKODA and they said they would send me the code to my home phone
I drew his attention to the price, Jim said well Jack we have to add a little for fitting it, I said NO all the others are double are you sure it is right
Yes Jack everyone thinks dealers are dear and go to Halfrauds and Factors to save money, it is the same battery only OEM

Next the BAD news, he drew attention to my two front tyres (new 12 weeks ago)
someone has stabbed your tyre walls mate ! Right enough both fronts chiselled ?

Next stop my tyre fitter two new fronts £250 :-(

Got home and answer phone SKODA sorry you were out call for the code
called and instant code given and it worked :-)

    What a day
    Broke but happy

Well at least you got everything sorted Jack , even though it cost a bit . This tyre slashing seems to be becoming the in thing , where was it a few weeks ago that over 100 tyres were slashed ? Did they ever catch the little scroats who did it.

Glad you are sorted in the end Jack, batteries do go and that's part of the cost of running a car but having your tyres slashed is not on. Any idea where that happened. not on your drive I hope?

The only place my car has been left, is the town centre car park,
I have been to quiet villages, photo hunting, but never left the car long or far away, Only other place is in my drive, though I can not see that happen
(Though we did have a Canabis factory house in the quiet cul de sac) maybe thought it was me who shopped them :-)

Might be worth reporting it, just in case a few of your neighbours have the same thing happen?

Bother, you could do without that. CCTV with Lasers is the way forward.
