My wife purchased a fruit from Asda,it is called 'Chiquita' Mini Bananas.
It is smaller than a Banana,it's about 4 inches, thin skinned, sweet, very nice flavour and smell, they are 'Delicious'.As you know a lot of the Bananas we buy are hard on purchase, and you require to leave them for a period of time to Ripen before eating, these 'Mini Bananas' are Ripe And Ready to eat.
In Australia they call them 'Lady Fingers',In Spain they call them 'Senorita',in Brazil they call them'Golden banana',in the Canary Islands they call them' Musa Cavendish' . Has Anyone Purchased This Fruit ?and did you enjoy it?.

I have two Musa Cavendish plants purchased last year but so far have not had fruit although I understand in my climate can within 18 months so perhaps next year. I have talked my friends into buying them also and my sister has one in her Florida home .. so we all wait in hope ...

I actually prefer bananas that are not quite ripe, I find them a bit mushy when totally yellow.
I've not tried these, though I have seen them, so maybe I should try them before I comment:)

I totally agree with you Pete ... I only like bananas not quite ripe and hate the overripe ones which are actually best used to make Banana Nut Bread and other such things ... probably because they are ghastly to eat ... :eeew:

I also prefer my nanas with a touch of green on them. I did have some very nice small bananas many years ago in Spain which were very nice . I thought they were called plantains , but I dont think that is correct now , maybe they were M. cavendish
