Hello from North London

Hi Everyone,

I have recently become a novice gardener and I hope this forum and it's members will become a good friend. I'm sure you have heard this many times ... I have not a clue!

My parents can no longer do the heavy work (but can still direct with 'passion') so I am now Head Gardener. So far my skill set includes grass cutting, weeding (I have purchased a highly addictive dandelion weeder), watering, sweeping, raking and a bit of tentative pruning. To begin with it is all about maintenance but I hope – with sound advice and encouragement – to progress to adding new plants and dare I say it ... grow some veg.

Well no doubt I will be asking questions and I look forward to my time here,

Welcome Chris, I used to live in North London in a previous life, gardening was hard work with heavy London clay. Look around the topics and you will find plenty on garden maintenance, veg and general plant growing.

It certainly is heavy clay, I'm sometimes amazed at how much of the garden sticks to the tools.

No disrespects Shiney my friend but. Perhaps you should be known as,'Swifty Shiney' As you seem to get about a lot. This came to mind as times past, there was a London cop I knew, by the name of John Stevens. He was stationed at CT, Tottenham Ct. Rd. Some how due to his swift movements he was given the nickname, Swifty Stevens. He ended up as Commissioner of the Met. Now known as. Lord Stevens. No offence intended.
