    Hi all,

Just wanted some tips from some lawn pros or avid lawn lovers!!

So I live in a newbuild property in the south east of the uk, and when we moved in we had a beautiful lawn... we are now in year 5 and my lawn has been horrific.

I know its heavily clay based as our new build was constructured on an old clay field, however, I aerate and scarify every year. My back garden is nice and green, but my front lawn, see images, just looks rough as hell!

We have had a very wet winter, but and now heading into spring! I have some Eutrema liquid gypsum on the way and my play is to scarify again, ive already aerate and scarifier once a few weeks ago, but one more big scarify on the next dry day, then out down the liquid gypsum for the clay soil, planning on doing that twice a year, then im going to overseed, got some good quality seed ready and put down some Jacks Magic compost, lightly brushed.

Its worth mentioning, we did have an awful leatherjacket infestation this year, which I forgot to treat, but I put Nematodes down a few weeks ago and will do so again in the autumn, but my question is, looking at these pictures, can I bring this lawn back to life? As honestly, a few years back it was a beautiful green, woth stripes, the lot, and now it just looks awful!!

I don't want to spend fortunes, and I already have the bits to treat, Fertilise, overseed etc...

Any comments or advice would be some greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

It's difficult to see as your photos are out of focus, but that looks like mostly moss and hardly any grass. Can you get a clearer close up photo.

That was my thinking, its like it's been completely taken over by moss, so I was thinking scalping it on the lowest setting with the mower. a severe hand scarify with a springtine rake, ive already aerated, and then put some top soil down with some seed and hopefully I can get a new new lawn to come through!
