    My brother has recently moved house and needs an id for this plant please.

    Thanks for the suggestions Noisette and Palustris. :) I'll pass them on to my brother to see what he thinks, if he's still not sure then we'll have to wait for flowers.

    My first thought was Libertia peregrinans....the one with a variegated leaf.
    Or am I imagining a slight stripe to 2nd pic?
    However I discounted the idea as I think it has seed pods seeds rather than black berries...maybe you could check this.

    It is a complete thug.
    It grows by sending out roots that make more baby plants.
    In our old home, a few plants over time, completely filled an enormous area.
    In the end we hand weeded every scrap out, before it expanded even more to other areas with precious plants in.

    I think you've probably hit the nail on the head Silver Surfer, thank you! :) Could it be the berries have turned black over winter?
