    Hi all,

I’ve just signed up so thought that I had better say hello!

I’m going to be asking lots of questions in various forums so I apologise in advance!

Hubby and I bought a house with a large (why?!?!?!) garden 7 years ago and have gradually been trying to improve it. When we moved in the ‘lawn’ came up to the back wall of the house and the garden was so overgrown that you couldn’t see any fences and we had to replace a run of fencing as it was completely rotten once we had cleared the brambles. Clearing out and tidying up included moving, by wheelbarrow 10 full builders bags of slate clippings from the front garden to the back borders!

Since then we have (paid someone to) put in a patio and set aside 1/4 of the garden as an allotment and that is where we have spent the last few years, totally ignoring the other 3/4 of the garden!

Anyway, the borders are still bare and consist only of slate chipping and I’m desperate to get some life into them, hence why I’m here! Low maintenance is the order of the day (lazy!!) and fast growing if possible. I’m doing lots of googling of evergreen shrubs at the moment.

The border faces south and is 23 metres long and approx 1.5 - 1.8m wide and is basically completely empty!

So, that’s me! I’m looking forward to chatting to you all :)
