There's the occasional burning done here , to try and keep it under control , more so where the ling heather grows.
The flowers of gorse add a good flavour to home made wild blackberry jelly, i also use my honey instead of sugar 1ltr of blackberry juice to 1lb of honey .
The almond flavour comes through really nicely one large mug of gorse flowers added to the jelly once setting point is reached then siv and jar up.

We have plenty of Gorse all around us too, in the surrounding farmlands and lake areas. I do love it though, as a child I can remember the first house we lived in when we moved down here had loads in the garden and it looked so beautiful when in bloom. We use to watch our Dad burn it on occasions to keep it manageable.

Used to be popular for heating bread ovens because it burns well and is plentiful.
Also it was cut as forage as the young thorns are soft enough for many herbivores.

Never heard of using it for feed before , that's very interesting @NigelJ . I wonder if it has any other uses.
It's a really good source of pollen for my honey bee's.
Infact isn't pollen from certain flowers used as a health food product ?

@Curly green fingers If you're ever over this way, and like white heather, we could probably let you have a couple of hundred cuttings :blue thumb:
