A WOMAN of 85 was repeatedly raped and stabbed by a man who forced his way into her Greater Manchester home.

Police this afternoon arrested a 25-year-old on suspicion of rape.

The horrific and prolonged attack took place after the woman was overpowered as she went to lock up for the night.
The pensioner stepped outside her Bolton home for a moment and was going back in to lock the kitchen door when the man pounced and bundled her inside.

The attacker then held her captive for between 30 minutes and an hour - stabbing her in the hand and leg with a knife, demanding money, then raping her several times.

Det Insp Paul Hitchen said: "This was a disgusting and vicious attack on an elderly lady in her own home. She is obviously very distressed but she is receiving medical treatment for her wounds, which are not serious, and she is now in the care of friends and family. We are determined to catch the man responsible for this monstrous attack."
