ID please

    I found this in the garden recently but not sure what it is. The misses reckons its purple loosestrife but in the plant ID book we have the leaves look a lot broader.
    Any ideas ???

    Looks like the Liatris I had in Bucks ... but that was many years ago and the pic is small and not so good for identification.

    I was thinking Liatris spicata as well Pete.. Could be VIPER'S BUGLOSS, RED or FALSE PINK LIATRIS - Echium russicum (rubrum) Produces tall spikes of very unusual flower spikes of dark red to rust colored flowers. Loved by butterflies as well.
