I have two IDs from Spain, please ...

    1. This was at the cottage ...

    2. This was at a bar/restaurant (sorry, didn't have the camera as we had been swimming so don't have the actual tree) ...

:D My garden centre owner friend, Stu, asked ME what they were as he wasn't sure! We are in dispute (although he thinks I may be right) over the first and neither of us know the second! [IMG]

    Thank you.

PS Sorry, the small leaf on the second one is "loose" and we think a young leaf. :rolleyes

I would say the first is alianthus, but as to the second looks vaguely like papaya, it would help to have a picture of the plant.

    Hi, pete.

I said Ailianthus and Stu said Rhus but then thought perhaps I was right.

Neither of us knew the second but his partner (who is from Zimbabwe then SA) said Papaya or some similar fruit. Shall I just nip back (only 4-1/2 hours one way) to photograph the tree! :D

It did look rather like this but two trunks togerher (no fruit) ...

PS I said to Stu ... pete will know ... [IMG]

Its just lucky that I grew a papaya for a few years, never got any fruit though it did flower.

Rhus has those upright cone like seed pods.

Thanks again. It was great spending three/four days with an "expert" who kept saying to me " what's this? or what do you think this is? ..." :D

But he had lots of things lined up to show me to photograph ... capers growing down a wall like a trailing plant (seeds), Catalpas (seeds), wild Hollyhocks (seeds) and a tree I can't remember but know (I'll text him by Skype and ask). Oh, have a pic of a Caesalpinia so now I know what the real thing looks like! [IMG] Pics up in Country Life in a few days.
