Yesterday, went to the post box and found:-

1 letter for son :blue thumb:
1 x letter for a house a few doors up the road
2 x letters for the house even further up the road :oopss:
1 x letter for a lady 1 mile away
1 x small package (all the way from the USA) for a bloke 1.3 miles in the opposite direction :yikes:

I contacted the sorting office to "report" it (this isn't the first time it's happened) because, clearly, something is going wrong with their system. Apparently, the manager has up to 48hrs to speak to the member/s of staff concerned.

Today, went to the post box and found ... nowt :heehee:

:th scifD36: Wonder if I'm black listed by postie now as pay back for reporting it :th scifD36:

Dare say this is going to happen more and more often since our sorting office was closed and has moved 8 miles away.

I doubt that you're on their black list, Mum, it's just that the Postman was feeling sorry for you and knows you don't get a lot of post!!:heehee: :ideaIPB: You could always sub-contract out to them and deliver the mis-posts for them at a reasonable charge!! I very rarely get the wrong letters in my mail box. It's a red American mail box that the postie has to think about before he shoves anything in it, plus he always does the rounds and knows everyone.:coffee:

Oo, thats a good idea for a thread Mum:)

Today I had a £100 fine for not filing a tax return on time, even though they never sent me a paper one and i've told em I can't access their website.

I letter from the bank saying they are having it away with £22 of my £25 premium bond win.

And a nice letter from a certain lovely GC member with some seeds and a recipe:)

I have had a couple of really great posties in the 12 years I've been in Houghton le Spring. They rarely get things wrong. Unlike their reliefs when they have time off - I'm always getting letters for neighbours and sometimes for B*****m Road Sunderland when I live in B*****m Grove, never mind the totally different post code - mine starts DH and the other place starts SR. Figure that one!

This mail box was a present from my brother, Mum, who used to meet a friend in Ontario every year and they would then drive down to Florida stopping off at friends houses as they did. So he came back with loads of stories and things he collected on the way. He has the same style mail box outside his Cottage. As I said the Postie loves it because he doesn't have to bend his back to post mail through the letter box situated at the bottom of the door or those with stiff flaps where he catches his fingers!!

We occasionally get mail for a property 36 miles away with the same number and street name as us, regardless of it having a completely different postcode for another county.

Mine's the other way round Scrungee. For some peculiar reason some of my mail coming from England goes to the Isle of Wight before it lands here on my mat. Mind you there's a lot of people in England that doesn't know this island exists.

Maybe there's somebody who keeps getting your mail and has got so fed up with complaining to the Post Office, putting it back in local post boxes, etc. (like what I did) so sends it to a friend/relative at the other end of the country and/or takes it on holiday with them and puts it (suitably endorsed) in post boxes in faraway places to really get the Post Office going? (like what I did - no mustn't do that as it would be naughty)

With this farce of "Large Letter" rates for anything wider than 3 microns at the moment, I think the post office deserves everything that it gets.
