You know business would be enjoyable mostly if it wasn't for the customers!
As some will know, I run 3 businesses (to varying degrees of success!) - a business consultancy, a design & print and a deli.
Why is it that you have some customers that have to be chased to the ends of the bloody earth to get payment?!
You buy a product or service and then you pay the invoice. It's easy. So why so some businesses chance their arm and give you the runaround?

I found the threat of interest at 6% above base rate if it's late past the due date usually did the trick.

My husband was self employed and I used to do the invoicing so also had the unenviable job of 'chasing up' non payment. People like to keep the money for as long as possible even though they have had the goods, threatening to charge interest might do the trick although we found that sometimes they would just pay the original amount without the interest added!!!

Will have to add the comments to the invoices in future lol

It's the bloody cheery nerve they show that gets me - 'Oh! Is that not paid yet?'. No it isn't now hand it over you stony faced old windbag.

I'm astounded by some of the debtors on the programme "The sheriffs are coming"

I found that a polite phone call from me usually sorted it out. It never happened a third time. :)

They always pay eventually but the chasing, even once, is annoying.

Have a look at the 'Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act' - if your customers are government bodies - they are legally obliged to pay you interest on the outstanding invoice amount.:psnp:

I've known builders take down brickwork due to non-payments before.
