    Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0 .

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5 , and then installed undesirable programs such as NBA 5.0 , NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1 .

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail..

    What can I do?

    Signed,
    Desperate.

    Dear DESPERATE ,

First, keep in mind that Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme. html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour7.0 orBeer 6.1 . Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta .

Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources).

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0 .

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7...

    Good Luck!

And just for fairness, here's the other side of the 'app' :heehee:

      Upgrading to Wife 1.0

Last year a friend of mine upgraded from Girlfriend 4.0 to Wife 1.0 and found that it's a memory hog leaving few system resources for other applications. He is also now noticing the Wife 1.0 is also spawning Child-processes which are further consuming valuable resources. No mention of this particular phenomenon was included in the product documentation, though other users have informed me that this is to be expected due to the nature of the application.

Not only that, Wife 1.0 installs itself so that it is always launched at system initialization where it can monitor all other system activity. Some applications such as PokerNite 10.3 , Bachelor Party 2.5, and Pubnite 7.0 are no longer able to run on the system at all, causing the system to lockup when launched (even though the apps worked fine before).

Wife 1.0 provides no installation options. Thus, the installation of undesired plug-ins such as Mother-in-law 55.8 and the Brother-in-law Beta is unavoidable. Also, system performance seems to diminish with each passing day.

Some features my friend would like to see in the upcoming Wife 2.0:
      - a "don't remind me again" button.
      - minimize button.
      - ability to delete the "headache" file
      - an install feature that provides an option to uninstall 2.0 version without loss loss of other system resources.
      - an option to run the network driver in "promiscuous mode" allowing the the system's Hardware Probe feature to be much more useful/effective.

I myself wish I had decided to avoid all of the headaches associated with Wife 1.0 by sticking with Girlfriend 3.0 Even here, however, I have found many problems. Apparently you cannot install Girlfriend 4.0 on top of girlfriend 3.0. You must uninstall Girlfriend 3.0 first, otherwise the two versions of Girlfriend will have conflicts over shared use of the I/O port. Other users have told me that this is a long-standing problem that I should have been aware of. Guess that explains what happened to versions 1 and 2.

To make matters worse, the uninstall program for Girlfriend 3.0 doesn't work very well, leaving undesirable traces of the application in the system. Another identified problem is that all versions of Girlfriend have annoying little messages about the advantages of upgrading to Wife 1.0!

      VIRUS ALERT
All users should be aware that Wife 1.0 has an undocumented bug. If you try to install Mistress 1.1 before uninstalling Wife 1.0, Wife 1.0 will delete MSMoney files before doing the uninstall itself. Once that happens, Mistress 1.1 won't install and you will get an "insufficient resources" error message. To avoid the aforementioned bug, try installing Mistress 1.1 on a different system and " never" run any file transfer applications(such as Laplink) between the two systems.

FYI: Don't even think about a shared directory!!!!!!!!!

I got way past there before installing Wife 1. I managed to go to Girlfriend 7 before being forced to install Wife 1.

        Then I had problems .

        Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new programme began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. No mention of this was included with the product information.

In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programmes and now launches during system initialisation, where it monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.8, Drunken Boys Night 2.5, Hockey 5.0, Football 7.5 and Racing 3.0 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected. I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favourite applications. I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the Uninstall doesn't work on Wife 1.0. Please help!

        Dear Troubled User,

This is a very common problem.

Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 thinking that it is merely a Utilities and Entertainment programme. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its creator to run everything! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and return to Girlfriend 7.0. Hidden operating system files cause Girlfriend 7.0 to emulate Wife 1.0 so nothing is gained.

It is impossible to Uninstall, Delete or Purge the programme files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this.

Some have tried to install Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than in the original system. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under "Warnings: Maintenance/Child Support".

I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0. I suggest installing the background application programme “Yes Dear” to alleviate software augmentation. Having installed Wife 1.0 myself, I also suggest that you read the entire section regarding "General Partnership Faults" (GPF's).
You must assume all responsibility for any faults and problems that occur, regardless of their cause. You will also find that GPF's tend to be somewhat cyclical, occurring approximately 28 days apart. The best course of action is to enter the command C: APOLOGISE.

Avoid excessive use of C: YES_DEAR because ultimately you will have to use the APOLOGISE command before the system will return to normal Anyway. Remember, the system will run smoothly as long as you take the blame for all GPF's. Wife 1.0 is a great programme, but tends to require very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programmes such as Clean_and_Sweep 3.0, Cook_It 1.5 (which replaces Burn_It 1.0) and Do_Bills 4.2.

You must however be very careful how you use these programmes. Improper use will cause the system to launch the programme Nag_Nag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0 should this happen. Best of luck.

        Dear Troubled User

It is possible to run Wife 1.0 and Girlfriend 8 together but your hard drive may fail from overuse. To avoid conflicts on start-up you can run Girlfriend in background mode twice a week. Should the hard drive begin to fail Scandisk has Viagra utility that fixes corrupted areas. Defrag Girlfriend 8 regularly to save space. You should install Girlfriend on a separate partition otherwise 'crosstalk' may occur.

If you intend to run Office 2010 then either set the 'preferences' to " working late" or if both Wife 1.0 and Girlfriend 8 are sharing the same Office suite, set preferences to " seeing customers " or "attending conferences".

Having both operating systems working at the same time is RAM (random access money) hungry. So set your home accounts program accordingly by invoking 'donations to charities' module. Girlfriend 8 allows the use of large floppies and those from Silicon Valley have enhanced performance. If you intend to use the Net then you need an OSP (outside service provider) with Girlfriend , whereas an ISP is fine for Wife 1.0 .Finally, remember to back up your financial data in Switzerland before attempting to upgrade Wife 1.0 or meltdown may occur.
