Ironmongery ID required

    These were in a mixed lot of 31 ironmongery items I got for £1 at a boot sale this morning (worth it just for 1 of them). Any idea what they are? My only guess is something like a keep on an old version of something like a Suffolk latch where a flat bar is held in place by the piece above that looks like an escutcheon (there's no key hole behind it)

    Interesting old pieces there Scrungee, sorry I've never seen anything like that before.

    Me neither, interesting that one bit is brass though, later replacement maybe?

    My best guess it that they're the keeps from something like shutter latches, and the pivoting bit is to stop somebody inserting a thin blade between the shutters and slipping the latch.
