Is this a peony?

good morning! I found this flowering in my parents garden, near where I know my dad planted a peony many years ago. There are seedlings and small plants growing in the gravel around - I need to know if I am going digging with a trowel later?!

Very definitely one of the tree Peonies. Leaf shape and flower style point to P. lutea var. delavayi, but the colour is a bit pinkjer than that usually is, so it may be one of the named versions of it.

 

Time to go rummaging in the garage, to see if dad put the label in a box there....
