Its not 2012 yet.

For the last couple of nights I've been on a different laptop to usual.

I couldn't get onto any secure website (address prefixed with https: ordinary http: was ok).

Loads of research kept telling me to make sure the time is right on the computer. It was. Digging around in all sorts of very fiddly system settings and reading obscure events logs revealed nothing wrong. About to throw the laptop threw the window the wife came over and looked. She said simply 'Its not 2012 yet'. :wallbang::wallbang::wallbang:

You may notice I mentioned the time was right, and it didn't occur to me to look at the date. My clock was a year fast, and secure website likes to make sure the machine connecting is at least pretending to be legit.

So if you ever find you can't get to Facebook, or your online bank or any other secure site, check your system clock and calendar before you throw the computer out of the window.

 

Clueless, why is it the simplest of problems are the most maddening, especially when someone comes along and points it out in a flash.
