I'm just about back to normal after my hernia op last Thursday. It was a bit painful but not as bad as I thought it would be. I had been told that there would be a lot of bruising but there wasn't. Although they gave me a lot of painkillers I didn't need them.

:yho: Great news Larkshall.. :thumb: Sounds like you were lucky & had a good surgeon if you next to no bruising or pain.... :gnthb: That is certainly the news we want to hear.... :old: Just take good care of yourself & take it easy like they say & you will be leaping around as usual soon enough....:gnthb: [IMG]

    Here's to a speedy recovery.
When I had my "bionic hip replacement" last year, it was very difficult to resist the temptation to "over do it" for the first few weeks.
    So don't you!

Glad you are feeling better mate, I have had three Hernia ops, the last, three years ago was the first with a mesh repair, it took a long time to settle down making me think I still had a Hernia. It's ok now but I was warned by the Surgeon NOT to get another !!!!!

    Great news, Larkshall :gnthb:

After my last hernia op I was mowing the lawn a week later - but Mrs shiney got the mower in and out of the shed for me :).

A big difference from the one I had over 30 yrs ago when I wasn't allowed to go back to work for six weeks - and it was still painful for 3 months.

Thankyou all for your comments. I can start driving again tomorrow but not cycling until a week Thursday. When I had a hip replacement in 1999 it was the other way round, not allowed to drive for 7 weeks but was back on my bike in 25 days. Since then I have cycled over 30,000 miles.
