She is really tame and enjoys being petted between her ears and on her cheek patches. We have a male that we named Simon that has lived under our deck for years. He is missing 75% of his tail and half his right ear. He is also tame but not as friendly as Gertie. We enjoy and spoil both of them with seeds, nuts, and grapes.

It's lovely that they trust you enough to become tame. :) It sounds like Simon has been mauled or in a fight - such a shame, but I'm sure he's happy enough.

Hi Sheal, meet Simon. He seems to be happy enough given what he has apparently been through. He has been here since he was a baby and we really enjoy his company.

That is just it, someone did a study that claims they only live three years in the wild and about six in captivity. Simon has been with us at least eight years. Each spring I expect he will not show up, but he does. Perhaps the fact that he does not forage for food has something to do with his longevity. He is beginning to slow down though, as we only see him a few times a week while Gertie is out and about from sunrise to sunset.

I would imagine eight years is a good age. Let's hope he's got a few more yet.

Instead of the fox showing up for his nightly treat Mr. Stinker beat him to it.

I've been over run by mice the last few weeks so i've been puting out a mouse trap, what i didn't know was that a mouse would eat another dead mouse if it's short of food, seen it last night on a cctv camera

I have been feeding this fox nightly for several weeks. Last night I setup a camera trap to get a decent photo of her as the comes around 4 am almost every day. This could be a fascinating new interest as I am pleased with the results and it is only my first attempt.

Rosie, our resident Red Fox, went missing for four or five days. Then she showed up with an injury to her right front leg. As she can probably not hunt I resumed feeding her. Injured or not, she is not about to allow a feral cat take her meal. :nonofinger:
