Dicksonia is the group. I water mine morning and evening with a watering can full. If you can do that I see no reason why you shouldn't grow it.

Has squashed my mature Leptopteris superba (Prince of Wales Fern). Has been growing well and has formed a trunk, well did have a trunk. Still has lots of babies just have to wait another 8 years for a trunk. :(

Must dig out my local magazine which recently had articles on palms etc as I'm sure Dicksonia was mentioned. But have to leave for the vet's soon so will do that after.

Oh, poor Lepto! :( Luckily you have lots of babies ... but eight years ... I'd cry! ... and I'd certainly be annoyed!

    Oh no BM!
The wind also snapped one of my 15ft tubular steel washing poles today, but luckily it stopped just short of my fence and my plants [IMG] Wasn't much fun retrieving my smalls from the neighbours though :( Does give me the opportunity to get rid of the hideous path that I had to keep for access to it though  But really need a washing line because the Spawns can get dirty in a vaccuum... Oh what a dilemma...

More like 'can I have my thong back?' :D :D
Is the tree fern ok? Much damage to surrounding plants or itself? Lucky Baby BM wasn't playing near it when it went

Its all fixable apart from my mature Leptopteris superba (Prince of Wales Fern) which went from a 6 inch trunk to a 1 inch trunk. Might be ok but I have babies of it which will only take about 8 years to get to the same height  Plus I need to fix baby bananamans hand rail which got a bit squashed. Im glad it didn't squash my acers or the catalpa beyond. I can't believe how strong it would have to be to do that!

The wind has been bad today. Coming from the opposite direction than usual here, and it's unusual for it to be so strong from that side. Luckily all my plants seem to be ok, but they are only ickle [IMG]
