    Good morning Mrs Woos car is having its MOT this morning,2 weeks early,just an hypothetical question,if it failed .and the old MOT certificate is still valid for 2 weeks ,is it legal to still drive it on the existing certificate thank you:smile:

    Yes, the current MOT certificate remains valid so you will still be legal in as much as you have a valid MOT - - BUT, depending on the defect, the car might not be in a roadworthy condition and therefore would not be legal to be used on the road.

        Yes it does; bear in mind that a car can fail its MOT for a blown bulb, and technically that renders the vehicle in an unroadworthy condition - however you would be fairly unlucky to be prosecuted if that were the only defect with the car. If the brake hoses were perished and leaking however... well, common sense tells you the car is not safe to be driven.

          Yes,as FC says, if the car fails and the MOT ticket is out of date you are only aloud the drive the car to the garage/mot station
          I think you can put your car in for MOT about 1 month before it's out of date

            Well i know a HGV driver that got pulled for a brake light not working, he got a GV9 because he didn't have any spare bulbs

            How did you get on Woo, mine have just passed it's 25th MOT today :ccheers:

              Ah, well as you know VOSA (or DVSA as they are now calling themselves) are somewhat more harsh when it comes to commercial/passenger vehicles - any excuse to issue a PG9 really...
