I have no idea about gardening but my pet recently passed away and I would like to have a rose bush planted in my garden in memory of her (I won't be planting it myself!).

I was wondering whether there is a specific time of year when it is best to plant rose bushes - if so, when? Also, is the after care difficult? Many websites lead you to believe that roses are really difficult to care for. The last thing I would want is for the bush to die not long after it has been planted. Any suggestions on which roses are the best (looking for a small/medium display as a feature in the centre of the lawn).

Any responses would be very much appreciated.

Welcome and hello BauerQueen,Rose,s aren't at all difficult to grow, from November to March you can purchase Bare Root Roses And from April until Sep/Oct we get Container grown Roses(That's Now) So you can plant all year round,After care is not difficult, and you can always ask for help here, as we have lots of Rose loving friends here who will always help you:)
I think a Hybrid tea would suit your situation the best,If you have any particular name or preferred colour please let us know:)
