Does anybody know why I always have to pull out my USB lead to my photo card reader in order for it to upload pictures to the computer? It always says can't find it, until I temporarily disconnect but it finds it ok when reconnected! Always works but should not be like that.

Hi Dag, I haven't a clue but my hubby might be able to help, over to him :
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the card reader as it may have installed twice or incorrectly installed in the first place. To uninstall go to Contol Panel- System-device manager (on the hardware tab). Look for your card reader, right click on it and uninstall. Once this is done unplug your reader and re-install. Hope this helps.

Thanks Poppy33, I thought about doing that but so far I haven't been able to find the CD to reinstall it with. Just have to look harder!

    Thanks to Mr. Poppy33 ;)

    DAG,

if you still have problems, contact John (PC Medic), in the Southend area.

Have a look at his site :-

    :D :D That's handy!!!

If considering buying a new computer in the near future would it be wise to use his services rather than taking out an extended warranty plan with the manufacturer? ;)

    Hi Dag,

we custom build computers for customers and give 1 year Onsite warranty on hardware only. (local customers only)

If you buy a new computer from a computer shop, then to be honest a warranty can swing both ways....firstly they ain't cheap, and secondly Computers are out of date within 6 months of coming off the shelf. I only recommend a warranty if the customer is buying a laptop. as these can be expensive to repair.

If you need any advice or help when buying a new computer just send me a pm, i' sure i can send you in the right direction.

    John

Ok Dag sounds like a conflict with your usb devices.......

usb devices can conflict if the "IRQ" they are using conflicts with another device "hardware"

please right click on my computer "ICON" and left click on properties.....then left click on Hardware "TAB" and then click on Device Manager.

scroll down and you will notice the usb devices listed. let me know if any of them have a exclamation mark next to them.

    John
