Strange goings on last night. I woke up at around 3am to the sound of two cats in next doors' front garden having a yowling competition. They were doing that strange cat thing where they sit motionless, about a foot apart, staring and yowling continuously at each other rather than having a proper fight. After about twenty minutes of this I got up and opened the bedroom window and attempted to shoo them off (they took no notice whatsoever). It was one of those clear frosty winter nights when the moonlight bathes everything in a cold, silvery light by which you can see almost as clearly as in daylight. As I paused to take in the scene, I was quite stunned to hear a veritable chorus of bird song! This was not just the odd robin or blackbird making an early start, there were several birds all singing away as if it were daybreak in May! At 3 o'clock in the morning in January? It really was quite a surreal experience, (and no, I wasn't dreaming). Has anybody else noticed this recently?
I have too, the mild weather has thrown a lot of them. Saw about 70 Canada Gooses flying North too. Don't know if thats normal for this time of year?
I too was woken at about 3AM this morning. For me thought it was by, from what I could gather, two teenage girls right out the front, shouting and giggling. Then I heard a car pull up, doors went, then the car drove away. Peace, until I was woken again at about 3:30AM by the sound of a car pulling up out the front, followed by doors slamming, then from what I could gather two teenage girls shouting and giggling.
Sounds like they are getting ready to nest too soon as well, teenagers don't normally come out till April.
