Found an email this morning purporting to be a Subpoena from the Crown Prosecution Service calling me as a witness to something or other in London.
Not sure what the normal procedure for a subpoena is, but hardly think they would send one electronically and to an email account rather than a named person.
    Very nasty.
The Email contains a virus so be very careful. It has been deleted without opening.

Another email scam going about is from itunes, apparently you purchased something to the sum of 14.99 and need your details to confirm something or other, I've had 2 in the last 3 months. Never owned anything Apple in my life.

Not what you need before xmas, eh!

I had two of these too, one saying it was for Robert's iPhone and one for Ronald's iPod. I am not Robert or Ronald, nor do I have either of those devices. Reported it to Apple but didn't hear anything further.

Just to be absolutely accurate, the virus is in the attachment to the Email so you may read the mail safely. Our Email program would not let me open the attachment in any case. Did not try either.
Not sure to whom one would report this.

I do report to PayPal, Amazon and E-Bay when I get phishing Emails supposedly from them. It is knowing to whom one reports which is often the problem.
Just found this site for reporting

Actionfraud are really helpful if you ring them up, used them to moan about my Chinese shipped Samsung tablet. Nothing came of it though.

PayPal scamming emails are very common - saying your account is compromised . Best is to ignore and delete all emails of this kind , and contact the relevant site through Google search not from links or phone numbers provided.

Just had another scam email, this time from "Paypal" sender [email protected]

This email is to confirm that you have sent £51.00 GBP to Brian Munch using your PayPal account.

Just don't click on the cancel payment link at the bottom of said email, good thing BT gives a warning before going on such pages.

Then noticed said email has Apple distribution at the bottom.. again never had anything Apple in my life!! :mute:
