Those pair are as cheeky as they come - their party trick is to glide through the plant in the corner (which is about 8 inches from my head when I am sat in my chair) and then look at me wanting food.

It was a steep learning curve, for sure, but I am quite chuffed with how it is working out - - if I could just stop the mollies having as much rumpy-pumpy......

All change in the big tank - I increasingly didn't like the blue gravel that was in there, nor did I like the rocks that we had in there, so we have gone from this:

Looks good and plenty of fish in there ! :)

Your lights look more like Leds, have you ditched the tubes ?
Recently upgraded my old Aquaone led unit for a simple led strip, they are so much brighter and the plants seem to like it.

Yes - I ditched most of the lid too. If you remember, I was having problems with the temperature rising, so that coupled with the frustrating tube connectors (they were a sod to get the bulbs into, and never really gave the most reliable of connections), I decided I wanted to take a different approach. I removed the front flap and the central 'tunnel' that held the wiring for the lights, as well as an associated insert. That left me with two sides and the filter tray at the back, which I had to brace to stop the sides collapsing in, then I cut a couple of slots in the side panels (Dremel into the plastic, not pretty when you look directly down on it, but it works and this tank stands 6ft tall so the top isn't really seen), and those slots hold the brackets for the LED strip.

The heat from the lights now dissipates externally, and the tank itself almost self regulates in temperature.

Sounds good, expect your external filter will be doing all thats needed.

Have been using this addative which seems to get good reports to help ensure you do not get any build ups in the water, partic if you cannot do large water changes weekly.
Might be good on your tank too with such a high bio load.

Thanks Ricky, I will have a look at that - we have the filter in the hood which runs at 1800l/ph and a canister filter running at 2000l/ph with various media (noodles, resin, sponges, carbon and so on) as well as using Stress Zyme and we did use Easy Balance for a while.

                    Your tank is looking exceptional!
